Cinema

As in previous editions, the festival continues its commitment to the screening of films and documentaries related to contemporary music and creation. On this occasion, the film programme will include the films A Symphony of Noise. Matthew Herbert’s Revolution, by Enrique Sánchez Lansch, Éliane Radigue – Échos, by Eléonore Huisse and François J. Bonnet and O gemer, by Xabier Erkizia.

A Symphony of Noise (2021) is an experimental sensory journey into the mind of the British Matthew Herbert. In this documentary, winner of the German Film Awards, director Enrique Sánchez Lanch has accompanied the British musician for more than a decade to capture his creative processes and explain the important political subtext of his work.

The festival will present the Spanish premiere of the short film Éliane Radigue – Échos (2021), in which filmmaker Eléonore Huisse and sound artist François J. Bonnet visit electronic music pioneer Éliane Radigue at her home, resulting in an intimate portrait of the French artist. The short film will be screened alongside O gemer (2021), a film by sound artist, musician, journalist and sound researcher Xabier Erkizia, with the particular sound of Basque oxcarts as the protagonist.

Xabier Erkizia will present the film and will later participate in a colloquium about it. At the same time, the screening will be accompanied by a lecture by the director entitled El gemir de un carro, which will take place at the Afundación headquarters a few hours beforehand and will be open to the public.

Conferences

The conference programme continues to be one of the backbones of the festival. It is a space created for debate, reflection and critical thinking by the different agents of the music and culture industry on how the present will affect the future and/or the social impact it will have on technology applied to art.

On this occasion, there will be a dialogue between the Galician DJ and producer based in Berlin, Cora Novoa, and the New York artist Rafael Anton Irisarri, where the latter will share the creative process and ethics that have accompanied him throughout his more than 15 years of career in ambient and experimental music. In addition, political and moral issues derived from artistic creation in the digital world will also be discussed.

The round table “After the Great Reboot: The creative industry in the face of an imminent planetary recession and digital subordination”, moderated by Frankie Pizá, will feature Alex Nikolov, Andrea Lamount, Karne Kulture, Patricia M. Val, Mounqup and Yugen Kala. The event will reflect on the social changes and the starting over caused by the pandemic, the environmental emergency, the digital transformation and how it affects the new articulation of the cultural world.
