At the 72nd Emmy Awards, the 24-year-old star took home the award for best actress in a dramatic series for her performance in Euphoria. Well, actually, she already was at home.
Her Emmy for ‘Euphoria’ makes her the youngest actress ever to win the main dramatic category, “I’m very, very nervous. I’m very, very nervous. Oh God,” Zendaya began her speech by thanking: “I just want to thank the TV Academy, all the other amazing women in this category, the ones I admire so much, this is crazy.
“To the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria, I am so lucky to go to work with you every day and I am inspired by everything you do,” she added. “And to Sam Levinson, I appreciate you and you are my family, I am so grateful for Rue, I am so grateful that you have trusted me to tell your story, and I hope that I can continue to make you proud.
Zendaya continued by assuring that there is “hope in the youth”. “I know this is a very strange time to celebrate, but I just want to say that there is hope for the young people out there,” she said. “I know that our series is not always seen as a great example of that, but there is hope in the youth, and I just want to say to all my colleagues who are working on your behalf: I see you, I admire you, I thank you.
