Considered the “Warhol of Japan” Takashi Murakami is known for blurring the lines between Japanese art and Western culture. After learning all the details about his Hublot, the legendary artist has just announced his latest collaboration with the cap brand New Era.
The launch includes its own version of the iconic 59FIFTY, 9FIFTY, 9FORTY A-Frame Trucker, 9THIRTY Cloth Strap and 9TWENTY Cloth Strap from the official cap brand of the NBA, NFL and MLB teams. The smiling flower and other key characters have completely invaded each of the collection’s wool caps, hats, long-sleeved T-shirts and short-sleeved T-shirts.
Earlier this month, the renowned Japanese artist unveiled a new collaboration with Swiss watch brand Hublot. The fusion of Japanese tradition and pop culture is embodied in the Hublot Classic Fusion watch that incorporates Murakami‘s signature flower with 487 gemstones, including rubies, amethysts, tsavorites and a variety of coloured sapphire crystals.
The Takashi Murakami x New Era collaboration is available exclusively in shops in Japan and on the New Era website from January.
