Versace, Fendace, Lanvin, Balmain and now Alexander McQueen: Naomi Campbell is making up for lost time. The model walked the catwalk for McQueen’s SS22 collection at London Fashion Week.
Holed up in London during the pandemic, Sarah Burton, the brand’s creative director, rediscovered her love for the city. That’s why, in her latest collection, she draws inspiration from the London that Alexander McQueen created. In a shiny plastic dome on the roof of Tobacco Dock, Burton translated the idea of storms and bad weather into haute couture looks.
Among the models who wore pleated dresses that looked as if the wind was blowing them away was Naomi Campbell. The superstar hasn’t modelled for the designer’s label since she passed away in 2010. So her return to the catwalk was the talk of the town. The star closed the show in a jewelled crop jacket and tulle skirt.
