FOOTDISTRICT has launched OUTER SHELF, its interactive virtual space where the sneaker community can interact through customised avatars or custom-designed characters. Within this virtual world, users can explore different scenarios (Plaza Real in Barcelona and its flagship store in Barcelona), participate in concerts, gymkhanas and raffles, create looks with exclusive models, buy items or even contact the FOOTDISTRICT team.

The retailer FOOTDISTRICT is characterised by the search for new ways of interacting with its community through actions that add value not only to the shopping process but to the whole experience. With this motivation, it has relied on the Oviedo-based company specialising in virtual and digital environments, Virtway, which has developed Outer Shelf. This interactive virtual space allows users to create their own customised avatar or character thanks to the multiple customisation options, including digital versions of clothing, trainers and accessories identical to the real ones, included in the FOOTDISTRICT catalogue.

Personalised dressing room and a superior shopping experience

The online or physical purchase of exclusive products will also be reflected on the platform. For example, any member of the community can buy products on the Outer Shelf through their avatar, as they would in the online shop, and receive them physically at home; they will also be able to access a digital version of the product in their virtual dressing room, thus differentiating themselves from other people.

Exclusive collections and limited editions

The retailer is part of the select club that the main brands designate for the distribution of the most demanded and difficult to obtain models on the market.

Outer Shelf already has the most sought-after classic trend models, such as the Air Jordan 1, Nike Air Max 1, New Balance 992, ASICS GEL-Lyte III, adidas Superstar or adidas Samba. Exclusive and exclusive models for streetwear gurus include ASICS GEL-1130, Birkenstock Boston, New Balance 2002, Nike Air Trainer 1 Chlorophyll and Saucony Shadow 5000.

The voice chat functionality allows people with an interest in the latest trends to interact with each other, no matter where they are in the world, with the particularity that the sound is 3D: they can talk to each other, and as long as they are close (in Outer Shelf), they hear each other close, and if they move away, the sound diminishes, just as it happens in real life.

FOOTDISTRICT and byCalitos avatar competition

On the occasion of the launch of Outer Shelf, the retailer launched a competition in collaboration with the youtuber byCalitos, in which the most original avatars were judged and awarded with priority access to launches and limited editions of brands such as Nike, Jordan, adidas or New Balance and gift vouchers to exchange for exclusive models from the FOOTDISTRICT catalogue.

Of the 3,600 avatars submitted, more than 28,000 people from the sneaker community have voted for the 10 finalists, who will be announced during the event to be held today, Thursday 10 at 19:00, hosted by influencer Toniemcee.

The event will show all the possibilities that the platform opens up for access to the product and contact with other people, members of the FOOTDISTRICT community.
