The music scene turns black to mourn one of the most influential creatives of the last decade. Experimental pop artist and Grammy-nominated producer Sophie Xeon dies at the age of 34 in a horrific domestic accident in Athens.
SOPHIE was found at her home in Athens on 30 January. “Tragically, our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident. True to her spirituality, she had gone up to see the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell,” Transgressive Records said in a statement. “She will always be here with us. The family thanks everyone for their love and support and asks for privacy at this devastating time.”
The Glasgow-born transgender rights activist is known for having worked musically with Maddona, Lady Gaga, and Charli XCX. She was “pioneering a new sound, not only for her inventive production and creativity but also for the message and visibility she achieved”, as her publicist put it.
REST IN PEACE.
