2022 WILL BE MARKED BY THE FOLLOWING (FASHION) EVENTS

With 2021 behind us and looking ahead to the new year, the HIGHXTAR team has decided to get together to talk fashion and discuss what we expect to see in 2022 and what the most important events in the fashion world will be this year. Ready to find out? We’re telling you now.

Starting by celebrating that the world of fashion, fashion shows and events is back (hopefully for good) and leaving aside (for a moment) the Omicron variant, it is true that our eyes are now more than fixed on the first part of fashion month 2022, or in other words, the fashion week (men’s version) in Milan and Paris. Excited to discover the new collections of the industry’s most important brands and the most avant-garde proposals of the most talented emerging designers in the sector, with the permission of all of them, we have to point out one event in particular. Which one? The debut of Belgian designer Glenn Martens, current creative director of Y/Project and Diesel, alongside Jean Paul Gaultier, who will present his first haute couture collection with the enfant terrible of fashion this month.

Another of the most exciting news before the end of the year was the announcement of the collaboration between Riccardo Tisci and Lea T, as together they will collaborate on the design of Burberry’s next Pre-Fall collection. And speaking of premieres and collections, we cannot overlook the almost imminent debut of JW Anderson in the Italian fashion capital, that of designer Camille Miceli for Emilio Pucci, after five years without a creative director, and what will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated shows of the women’s fashion week. Which one? Matthieu Blazy’s first show as creative director of Bottega Veneta, which will take place on 26 February in Milan.

In a complete change of register, and even of city, it is also worth mentioning the debut of the designer NIGO for Kenzo, which will take place on 23 January during Paris fashion week and will be remembered as the first Japanese designer to head the brand since its founder, Kenzo Takada, left the post in 1999.

Finally, the question of who will be Virgil Abloh’s successor at Louis Vuitton and Off-White is still very much up in the air, although at the moment it seems that the next collections will be dedicated to paying homage to the designer and his powerful legacy.

Now that we know all this, there are only three unanswered questions: Will 2022 be the year we see Phoebe Philo’s new brand? And what about Alexander Wang, will he return to the runways?
