Among the new products coming later this autumn from Swedish House Mafia and IKEA are a range of FRAKTA bags, a collection of household items and a series of smart solutions.
With the aim of providing “music producers, DJs and all creators with limited means but unlimited creativity” with music and home-related items, Swedish House Mafia and IKEA unveil their inaugural collaboration. Three new versions of the Swedish giant‘s iconic FRAKTA bag are born: a bag for cables, cords and all manner of similar accessories; a laptop bag and a bag that can hold up to 100 vinyl records.
But that’s not all. The collaboration is completed with a series of homeware products and home solutions that will be unveiled at the IKEA Festival at BASE in Milan. The event will take place on 9 June during Milan Design Week 2022.
“FRAKTA is one of those IKEA classics that everyone has. We wanted to make our own version from a music-making point of view, depending on what kind of gear you carry with you. Our different approaches to the bag are themes shared throughout the collection. All the items in the collection have a timeless theme with a clear trace of our DNA,” say the members of the Swedish music group.
Friso Wiersma, in-house designer at IKEA of Sweden, adds: “It was a dream for the guys to make a FRAKTA, but they wanted to add something more to it. Talking about functionality and how they would use it in their daily lives, it became clear that we wanted to solve different problems, and that we couldn’t do everything with just one style of bag.”
