With over 1.9 billion views on TikTok, #Mewing is the technique promoted as an exercise to improve facial features.

Those who have tried it claim that this technique – which basically involves sticking your tongue to the roof of your mouth – improves breathing, relieves muscle aches in your mouth and helps define your jawline and align your upper and lower jaw. TikTokers are convinced that these exercises will give you a Bella Hadid vibe.
However, as a viral internet phenomenon, no studies have been able to confirm that these benefits actually exist. In fact, some dentists and other professionals warn that if you overdo it, your teeth could become misaligned. However, we wouldn’t rule out trying it out to find out first-hand if the difference is that obvious.
There are tutorials on TikTok, explaining the steps you need to take to improve your jaw position instantly. Basically, it involves bringing the lips together, aligning the dental arches and flattening the tongue against the roof of the mouth, thus achieving a sharper jaw. This technique is not new, it was popularised on YouTube two years ago, but it has come back stronger than ever.
