Louis Vuitton is ready for polka dots to invade its universe in its next collaboration with iconic contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama.
The collaboration will see some of the house’s most classic silhouettes carry Kusama’s unique, million-dollar touch. The masion is launching a collection that includes ready-to-wear, accessories, leather goods and even perfumes. So far, we’ve seen images by Steven Meisel featuring Gisele Bündchen, Liya Kebede, Devon Aoki, Christy Turlington and Anok Yai.
This is not Yayoi Kusama’s first collaboration with the luxury house, in 2012 the Japanese woman brought a fresh perspective to Vuitton with her debut collection. Delphine Arnault said of the partnership: “One of the aspects of her work is happiness, and we thought it would be really refreshing after the pandemic for the worlds of Vuitton and the world of Kusama to come together again”.
Artist Yayoi Kusama, best known for her obsession with polka dots, has applied her signature style to entire rooms, canvases and now Louis Vuitton pieces. In the first images, her colourful and unique touch can be seen on classic Louis Vuitton denim, dresses and even the brand’s most iconic bags such as Keepall, Alma BB, Sac Plat 24H and more.
The first products are scheduled to be launched on 1 January in Japan and China as a pre-launch, while they will be launched globally in Louis Vuitton shops on 6 January.
