Stone Island and New Balance celebrate 10 years of partnership with new silhouette

The two brands first teamed up in 2013 to create a special version of the 577, and now they are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their collaboration with the release of what looks like an entirely new silhouette.

The preview of the 991v2 doesn’t reveal much; it’s just an image of the outsole with a large black Stone Island compass logo underneath translucent rubber. However, the name (which looks quite similar to the 990v2) suggests it could be a fusion, following the style of previous silhouettes like the 997.5, which combined the 997 upper with the 998 midsole.

Since their first collaboration in 2013, the Italian sportswear company and New Balance have released several models, such as the RC ELITE SI, designed by Tokyo Design Studio in 2021, followed by the FuelCell RC Elite V2, a 574 Legacy and a collection of camouflage-print soccer boots and kits in 2022. In addition, earlier this year they released the high-tech FuelCell C_1.
