Under the slogan “Fashion is Art”, the acclaimed event brought together more than 400 guests.
From established icons to the next generation, including athletes, artists and internet personalities, this year’s MET Gala has arguably been one of the most eagerly anticipated (and controversial) events of recent years. The reason? The involvement of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez as lead sponsors and honorary chairs. A move that sparked an immediate debate: fashion cannot remain apolitical, and which led to protests, performances and even a ‘Resistance Red Carpet’ on the streets of New York.
Inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, however, the evening went on as usual, with four curators at the helm: Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour. Beyoncé’s return, after years of absence, marked one of the gala’s most symbolic moments, turning her mere presence into a cultural event.
Each guest demonstrated their ability to interpret the theme within their own context, showcasing stunning looks such as that of Emma Chamberlain, who wore a colourful Mugler dress designed by Miguel Castro Freitas; Cardi B in her Marc Jacobs outfit; Teayana Taylor in a Haider Ackermann design for Tom Ford; Rihanna in a haute couture gown by Maison Margiela; Sabrina Carpenter looking impeccable in Christian Dior; and LISA opting for a surrealist creation by Robert Wun.
However, all eyes were on two figures who left no one indifferent: the ever-iconic Heidi Klum and, of course, Bad Bunny, who once again turned to Zara for such a special occasion.
Other celebrities who didn’t want to miss this major international fashion event included Kim Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Margot Robbie, Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, Gigi Hadid, Hunter Schafer, Madonna, Katy Perry and Georgina Rodríguez, who wore a bespoke outfit by Ludovic de Saint Sernin and a rosary valued at 7 million euros.
