Adidas takes another step into the metaverse with new “collabs”

Earlier this week adidas announced that it would be collaborating with Coinbase, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Pixel Vault’s Punks Comic and Gmoney.

Earlier this week, adidas hinted that it was going to enter the metaverse. The sports label announced it would be collaborating with Coinbase, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Pixel Vault’s Punks Comic and crypto investor Gmoney.

BAYC’s Twitter account tweeted an image of a monkey wearing an adidas hoodie. On the hoodie were the logos of adidas, Bored Ape Yacht Club, G-Money and Punks Comic. This photo is all we know so far, maybe the collaboration will be a limited edition NFT BYC or some adidas BAYC inspired apparel.

Earlier this month, adidas expanded its activity in the metaverse with the launch of a POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) on the adidas CONFIRMED app. The new launch offers digital tokens for selected users, which means a new business avenue for adidas. As well as another way to reward its loyal fans.

“This digital collectible is our way of rewarding you for following your curiosity as we explore this new era of originality together,” adidas said in a statement. “This token proves you were here from the beginning of this journey. Keep it safe, it can be useful.”
