Art Basel Miami 2021: The exhibitions you can’ t miss

The iconic contemporary art fair Art Basel returns to Miami stronger than ever after a long hiatus due to the health crisis.

The iconic contemporary art fair Art Basel returns to Miami after a long hiatus due to the health crisis. It does so stronger than ever and with lots and lots of novelties. Paintings, drawings, installations, sculptures, NFT…. You can’t miss absolutely nothing. Below, we review the most outstanding enclaves:

Among the most outstanding novelties, we find the extraordinary installation of bananas by Mauricio Cattelan with Perrotin Gallery; the digital platform Pace; Pace Verso; the Nomades Objects Collection by Louis Vuitton or ‘As Seen By’ by RIMOWA, among many others.

Louis Vuitton ‘Objets Nomades’
1st December 2021

Louis Vuitton‘s ‘Objets Nomades’ collection lands at Art Basel Miami after having done so in Madrid last May. It is a compilation of works by designers from all over the world. For this occasion, the maison has chosen the Campana brothers; Marcel Wanders Studio; Zanellato/Bortotto and Raw Edges, and their works can only be enjoyed on 1 December from 12 noon to 5 pm. A must of the edition.

‘As Seen By’ exposition by RIMOWA
from 30 November to 5 December

With the aim of reinterpreting the characteristic aluminium material used in the production of its products, RIMOWA has brought together a group of international artists. Now, in collaboration with the collective The Community, it presents ‘As Seen By’, a most interesting exhibition.

Gagosian modern and contemporary art exhibition
From 2nd to 4 December
One of the highlights of Art Basel 2021 is the one presented by Gagosian. A tour that shows the masterpieces of the 20th century and that any art lover – not only modern and contemporary – should enjoy in all their splendour. From Pablo Picasso to Richard Avedon via Damien Hirst, Andreas Gursky, Ed Ruscha or Alex Israel.

Those of you who can’t attend in person, don’t worry. Everything has been planned. The selected works will also be exhibited telematically through Art Basel‘s visitor’s room.

Pace Art Basel Miami Beach
from 30 November to 4 December

Pace Verso, after having offered the public its own NFT platform, seeks to duplicate digital technologies throughout the art fair. It will do so with the participation of great international artists such as Glenn Kaino, teamLab, Leo Villareal or DRIFT. It will also include in its offer carefully selected traditional artworks by personalities such as Jules de Balicourt, Wilfredo Lam or Beatriz Milhazes.

PAMM: Allied with Power Exhibition
from 7 November to 6 February 2022

The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will temporarily loan a selection from its collection of more than 500 new works of modern and contemporary art collected between 2011 and 2017. In doing so, it is paying special attention to international artists from Africa and the African diaspora.

Through ‘Allied with Power’, PAMM presents the contemporary era through a series of practices that reflect the possibilities and complexities of our age. The artists include Kara Walker, Deborah Roberts, Sam Gilliam and Rashid Johnson.

And speaking of art… Have you heard about 2×2, the new Madrid proposal that combines art and partying?
