Karl Lagerfeld presents us with a Chanel SS19 that breathes youth, lightness and millennial codes everywhere.
In May, Chanel transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a transatlantic for its show Cruise 2019. For the SS19 collection, Lagerfeld took the guests on a trip to the coast, creating an entire beach almost as good as the real one. Being a Chanel show, the central theme was not a subtle background, but a total immersion experience.
The spirit of high society and jet set that travels around the world in search of the best places to spend holidays was noticed through looks that mixed pieces of tweed, lace, denim and silk. Pieces that shared a comfortable design and projected calm, relaxed silhouettes; all with an absolute control over the volume that made the verticality stand out.
As in past seasons, Kaia Gerber – Cindy Crawford‘s daughter – excelled in the show. The model wore a shirt with buttons that had the word Chanel engraved on the pockets (one of the most commented pieces in the collection) and complemented her look with black trousers, XL earrings and a belt.

The palette of colours moves between summery and refreshing tones and the iconic black so linked to the house. The complements, again, play an important role and Chanel proposes an overloaded style based on superpositions. We see models with several necklaces and others that carry up to four bracelets, not forgetting the double bags that has been most striking. This time the footwear was worn in the hand.
The conclusion of the Chanel fashion shows is clear, Lagerfeld always does better on “holidays”.
