Dr. Martens and PLEASURES merge two musical genres

Dr. Martens and PLEASURES join forces on this occasion to rework the mythical 1460 inspired by two musical genres mixing punk with New Wave.

Dr. Martens (@drmartensofficial) and PLEASURES (@pleasures) join forces on this occasion to rework the mythical 1460. The collaboration is inspired by two musical genres, mixing the energy of punk with the more polished and modern feel of New Wave.

PLEASURES

This unisex 1460 boot, reformulated, still has all the most representative elements of the classic Docs: the sole with side grooves, the handle with the logo and the yellow stitching. However, it is the contrasting materials that refer to the clash of genders.

The design is inspired by the adolescence of Alex James, founder of PLEASURES, who grew up listening to punk while his friends listened to pop/rock. By mixing the two genres, James wanted to show how the 1460 had been and still is a common silhouette of generations of the subcultures.

In reference to this clash of genres, the boot is split in half. On one side of each boot is the patent leather to represent the New Wave, which contrasts with the hard, unpolished leather in honor of the rawness of punk. The design is completed with a “PLEASURES NOW” heel strip, double laces and hook eyelets.

PLEASURES x Dr. Martens will go on sale on June 27th through the Dr. Martens web store and in specific stores.
