Fred Perry and Raf Simons reconnect to embody the spirit of independence

For the past 15 years, Raf Simons has used Fred Perry as a canvas to explore his obsession with British youth culture. From the Manchester scene to Northern Soul and from punk to 100 club, all reinvented through his distinctive lens, infusing FP classics with modernity.

It is fitting that their latest collections are a celebration of the coming together of communities united by music, fashion and friendship, and there is no doubt that these garments will immediately become collectors’ items.

Drawing directly from today’s youth culture, the selection of garments embodies the spirit of independence, inspired by the clothes worn at raves, club nights and concerts.

Influenced by Simons‘ fascination with uniforms, the silhouettes and fabrics are utilitarian and rugged, with military-inspired jackets and knitwear, work trousers and heavy-duty accessories. As suitable for a hard day’s work as they are for a techno party.

Bespoke graphic prints characterise the entire collection, inspired by early industrial album covers released in the UK, US and elsewhere in the late 1970s. Little-known British artists dominated the scene with equally little-known album artwork. Bold graphics and eye-catching lyrics became synonymous with the era. Influenced by this scene, abstract drawings appeared on T-shirts, polo shirts, outerwear and knitwear.

The campaign, captured by British photographer Ewen Spencer, known for immortalising the energy and spirit of youth, showcases the collection during the UK tour of beat-punk band Kid Kapichi’s, supported by SNAYX and MONAKIS, at Brighton‘s indie music venue Chalk.

The latest Raf Simons x Fred Perry collection is now available through fredperry.com and selected retailers.
