HBO has confirmed the start of production on its Harry Potter TV adaptation, currently filming at Warner Bros. studios in the UK. With the announcement, the first official image of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter has been released, showing some updates to the Hogwarts uniform.
The image retains the recognisable elements of the character, the round glasses, the scar, but introduces modifications to the Gryffindor outfit. New finishes on the jumper and variations on the tie point to an intentional redesign. The costumes seem to seek an aesthetic separation from the original films.

Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley) complete the new leading cast. The cast also includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. They join previously announced names such as Paapa Essiedu (Snape), John Lithgow (Dumbledore) and Katherine Parkinson (Molly Weasley).
Francesca Gardiner is leading the project as writer and executive producer, while Mark Mylod will direct several episodes. J.K. Rowling is also listed as executive producer. Filming for the first season will run until spring 2026.
HBO’s Harry Potter series is due to premiere in 2027.
