For the first time ever, Instagram will share its revenue with influencers through a new feature that will be released next week: IGTV Ads. As we reported last week, digital creators will be able to monetize their content through these ads. For now, they will try 200 creators and brands, including Lele Pons (@lelepons) and Sephora (@sephora).
Instagram’s chief operating officer, Justin Osofsky, has confirmed that the company will review all content before accepting it for monetization to ensure that ads are not inadvertently associated with inappropriate video.
Any content submitted for review will also have to adhere to a set of monetization policies, which stipulate that bad behavior by influencers, such as swearing, can result in “reduced or disallowed monetization.
In addition to the IGTV ads, Instagram will also allow creators to make money with Instagram Live buyable badges. While it is unclear exactly how these badges will look, it is rumored that they will cost between $1 and $5. The badges will prioritize the comments of their buyers.
