Bottega Veneta now has a new creative director: Matthieu Blazy

Belgian-born designer Matthieu Blazy has just been appointed creative director of Bottega Veneta by the Kering group.

After many days of speculation about who would take Daniel Lee’s place at Bottega Veneta, we have finally been able to find out who will be the privileged one to fill this coveted position. Can you guess who? None other than Matthieu Blazy. But who is Blazy really? Read on.

Matthieu, a Belgian by birth, is no stranger to the fashion industry like Daniel Lee, quite the contrary. After working for Maison Margiela Artisanal, alongside Phoebe Philo at Celine or at Calvin Klein during “The Raf Simons Era”, it is now time for him to take up this great position and display all his talent.

Announced this afternoon in a press release by the Kering group, this latest appointment by the Italian fashion house does not seem to have come as much of a surprise, as Matthieu started working with Lee in the middle of last year, so this is a very subtle change, as everything points to the fact that the design line and fresh aesthetic that made Daniel shine so much will continue to be very much present.

Now we just have to wait until the next edition of Milan fashion week to examine the first collection of Matthieu Blazy for Bottega Veneta in detail.
