Louis Vuitton arrives at the Salone del Mobile with a new collection of ‘Objets Nomades’

Louis Vuitton’s exclusive Objets Nomades collection, created in 2012 and composed of furniture and decorative and functional objects, arrives at the Salone del Mobile with its latest proposal.

A total of 11 new Objets Nomades belonging to different artists and studios such as Marcel Wanders, Raw Edges, Zanellato/Bortotto, Atelier Oï, Atelier Biagetti, Studio Louis Vuitton or the Campana brothers. In addition, a unique reinterpretation of the classic house boot by Marc Newson will be unveiled and an architectural structure created by Marc Fornes will be installed to host different events throughout the week.

In this way, the previously named Atelier Oï will unveil four objects: Chandelier, a leather and light sculpture 1.2 metres high and made up of 36 two-tone braided straps; Quetzal, a large-scale decorative object inspired by the flight of birds thanks to its fur plumage; Piva, a pendant lamp that pays homage to the beauty of light and colour, made up of 57 frosted glass bracelets and interspersed leather petals; and Origami Bowls, a series of ingenious, simple and practical objects made from a single piece of folded leather to create mutable three-dimensional shapes.

The Flower Tower lamp by Atelier Biagetti consists of a transparent column with 15 flower-shaped glass bubbles, inspired by LV‘s Monogram.

London designers Raw Edges come to Milan with the Binda armchair and sofa. Playful, sculptural and imposing, they follow a design based on the curved lines of tennis balls that is accentuated by glossy leather-covered exteriors and velvet seats.

Zanellato/Bortotto surprise with Basket Table, a cylindrical table formed by three interwoven leather bands on a striking metal base. It maintains a honeycomb design that ends in a reflective enamelled lava stone top.

For the occasion, the Capeline lamp by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders transforms the light into a softly diffused bath thanks to three soft frosted glass haloes.

The Campana brothers reissue their iconic Cocoon hanging armchair and transform it into Disco Ball, a new edition featuring cushions covered in silver mirrored mosaic tiles. In addition, the Bomboca sofa finds its update in a dazzling metallic-effect sculpture.

Finally, Studio Louis Vuitton will present the Flower Carafe and Twist Glass pieces, made by Venetian craftsmen and based on the Monogram flower. In addition, Bookends bookends in marble and aluminium are combined and mixed together for a unique result.

Marc Newson’s ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ for Louis Vuitton

This year a major work will be hosted during Milan Design Week: The mysterious Cabinet of Curiosities by Mark Newson, the internationally renowned Australian industrial designer who brings this iteration to life with an exterior clad in Monogram canvas and an interior that features 19 leather-lined metal cubes and hidden compartments.

This year will see the launch of an important pieceA limited edition piece of which only 40 copies are available worldwide. Each one includes a metal plaque signed by the designer.

Nomade Pavilion by Marc Fornes

Finally, the maison will show the public Marc Fornes‘ pavilion that resembles a living, organic entity emerging in the courtyard of the Palazzo Serbelloni. A total of 1,6000 sheets of anodised aluminium with unique shapes and patterns just 1 millimetre thick are erected to create the structure.

Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades, Marc Newson’s Cabinet of Curiosities and Marc Fornés‘ Nomade Pavilion will be on view at Palazzo Serbelloni from 17 to 23 April 2023.
