Julien Dossena analyses how a woman’s wardrobe evolves through her various experiences.
rabanne‘s latest collection reveals a wide range of ideas – at once unmistakable and approachable – where materials captivate and silhouettes seduce; inspirations are recontextualised and remixed, far removed from direct associations. This is why the looks are defined by their generous details in the form of delicate metallic embroidery (of course) and shiny studs that trace the edges of the denim, while skirts flow in voluble fabrics.
Once again, the fashion house highlights contemporary craftsmanship, fusing elaborate ornamental techniques with everyday simplicity to give way to unique results such as embellishments on metal mesh pieces. Other exceptional treatments include black ribbed knit with gold, silver coated knit or floral print lace.
Dossena finds inspiration in the approach to the world through time, reimagining traditional structures to give them new functionalities. He also brings a play of contrasts to the garments, both in terms of colour and body fit. Bags find new forms and materials in which to exist, where the paco becomes a classic in leather with its iconic assembly twisting around its spacious shape; and the 1969 is proposed in a mini version with shearling panels.
