Supreme becomes more arty than ever for the SS20 season through a new capsule painted by artist Daniel Johnston.
The sk8 brand is once again launching a new textile episode in collaboration with Daniel Johnston. The result is a line of pictorial pieces that reflect the artist’s latest original works of art.
Supreme thus honors the legacy of musician and painter Daniel Johnston through the spring-summer 2020 collection, in which he prints all those graphics that fuse the musical and visual art of the artist influenced by his schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Like Yayoi Kusama, the painter’s mental disorders are reflected in an iconic work that has transcended even human life itself.
The collection features some of his most iconic surrealist creations and characters, including Jeremiah the Innocent and the Frog on the cover of his album Hi How Are You (1983). The artist’s aliens and drawings run through the capsule of embroidered shirts, workwear pants, t-shirts and beanies, blending with Supreme’s heritage and streetwear spirit in a range of neutral, eccentric tones.
Supreme also pays tribute to Johnston’s projects outside of music, including his comic book Space Ducks – An Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness and his illustration The Silver Sufferer, which is painted on several hoodies and T-shirts.
The Supreme x Daniel Johnston Spring 2020 collection drop will be just online, and will be available on the official Supreme website on May 14th.
