Natalia Lacunza takes a firm step towards a new musical dimension with “Un Castigo,” the first preview of her second studio project, scheduled for release at the end of the year. In collaboration with Guatemalan-Mexican artist Jesse Baez, and produced by Pau Paredes and Pau Riutort with arrangements by Ganges, the Navarrese artist delves into a much more mature, raw, and emotional narrative. An artistic turning point that confirms her growth as a composer, vocalist, and storyteller.

Sonically, “Un Castigo” moves between introspective electronic pop, atmospheric R&B, and an alt-pop sensibility that frames Natalia’s voice in an intimate and melancholic space. It’s a song that plays with emotional minimalism, where every pause and texture carries weight. The addition of Jesse Baez—one of the leading figures of Latin American R&B—intensifies this atmosphere: “When we heard Jesse sing the second verse, it seemed like he wrote it,” explains Natalia. “Her voice and the interaction between them give the song a timeless tone that makes it shine even more. “Un Castigo” is intergenerational.

The music video, directed by Héctor Herce—with whom Natalia previously collaborated on “Muchas cosas”—visually translates that moment when sadness becomes physical, mundane, and silent. Shot in color and black and white, the clip displays an aesthetic charged with intimate symbolism. The camera moves gently and strangely, constructing a dreamlike space where the emotional and the corporeal merge. This visual universe accompanies the emotional density of the song with a poetic and contemporary language.

“Un Castigo” functions as the narrative prologue to an album that Natalia has begun to define as a reflection on grief, not just from a relationship, but from an entire life stage. “It’s the moment when everything you took for granted falls apart,” the artist says. “What gave you security—the people, the city, your chosen family—disappears. And then the sadness comes not only from a breakup, but from confronting a youth that isn’t what you expected.”

In this new project, the second album of her career, Natalia Lacunza presents herself as a generational, honest, and deeply emotional work. And this first preview marks a clear leap in artistic direction, conceptual ambition, and emotional depth.

In addition, Natalia will present some of these new songs in a series of concerts confirmed for 2025, where she will also revisit key tracks from her discography.
