Within the framework of their FW19 joint collection, where Edgar Allan Poe-inspired motifs hoarded all the attention, a new collaboration between Jun Takahashi and Pierpaolo Piccioli has been unveiled, this time taking over two of the most renown Valentino’s sneakers silhouettes.
Last year all eyes went onto the stunning and obscure graphics the Italian house displayed all over their collection with the Japanese designer at Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by Poe’s iconography, a series of UFOs invaded every piece where the poet’s face appeared in the background.
In their last range of creations they’ve presented a new version for Valentino’s Open and Climber sneakers where the characteristic skull from Edgar Allan Poe’s poems appears in the first ones in a black leather iteration. For the Garavani Climbers, we see the American poet’s bust in the tongue with the mentioned UFO covering his face. This version from Undercover brings white as main color and different green tones in a series of details of the sneaker, tagging both Japanese and Italian firms founders’ names.
Jun Takahashi (@undercover_lab) and Pierpaolo Piccioli (@pppiccioli) have created one of the most interesting creative tandems in the industry.
