It isn’t very common for the Spanish music industry, generally lagging behind global trends, to be championing a product that has generated a lot of debate. Known by some media as the Ice Spice of our country, we are talking about none other than Bb Trickz. And the fact is that her rise has been the most talked-about thing these days.

Her musical career, as far as we know, began last February with her first track ‘Bambi’, which soon became a viral hit on TikTok. With almost 2 million views, the video, where the artist appears with her friends, leaves us with memorable bars such as “my boyfriend thinks he’s a rapper, what he is is a mamahuevo” or “It wasn’t squirt, it was pee”.

Bb Trickz didn’t take long to win over the users of this platform with her unique sound, her raw lyrics, her authenticity and her cool kid dosmilera style. And then came her second hit ‘Missionsuicide’. From the iconic sample from the series Law and Order, to the aesthetics of the video clip, this track would be the first preview of what was to come: her debut EP called ‘Trickstar’.

This EP follows the success of her 20-second videos on TikTok, which led to her being noticed by a multinational and becoming the shining musical star she is today. The six-track EP sounds homemade, as if she had been recording it in her bedroom; it sounds like free American bases; but it also sounds fresh and different.

The young girl comes on strong throwing beef at the untouchable Bad Gyal “I’m talking about you Bad Gyal / You think you do, but you dance bad” and Fernandito KitKat “You fucked Yung Beef / Now you’ve got AIDS”. Who would have thought that one of the kings of trap would be touched and sunk? The artist has been quick to respond with a track ‘Bb Trickz is for Kids‘ that is climbing the YouTube trends.

“Gordo, today a superstar is born”, is one of the strong statements made by Los Xavales, , the iconic urban music youtubers, after reacting to her first video clip. Content creator Rodrigo Quesada, also gave his opinion: “She has everything it takes to be a badass. She’s gorgeous, she’s got style, she’s cool, she’s got bars, she’s funny, she connects with people. She doesn’t do generic songs”.

Her boom has been so big that she has almost 100,000 followers on Instagram. But this is not the most important thing, what is surprising is the quality of his followers. Artists such as Rosalía and C. Tangana have started to follow her. Even the designer Matthew M Williams, creative director of Givenchy, responded to her with a fire emoji. Carol G, Taichu and Bizarrap are also following her.

The singer perfectly exemplifies the new ways of building an artist’s career. Without the support of the press or playlists on Spotify, the Catalan has managed to be on everyone’s lips. And, of course, she gives a glimpse of the potential of TikTok as a key tool for viralising content and reaching a mass audience looking for ingenious and different content.
