John Galliano presented the new AW20 collection at the Paris Fashion Week under the title “Recycle”. The couturier immerses himself in circular fashion and adds his ingenuity to conceive an environmentally friendly display. As this sector is one of the most polluting, it is necessary that every day we are more aware and take measures to save the planet.
Maison Margiela has started a podcast initiative that accompanies each of the house’s shows. In them Galliano talks about everything that inspires him for the collection. The themes and concepts on which the designs are based. The Gibraltar-born couturier extracts the key pieces and paves the way for an in-depth look at his work each season.
For the latest AW20 show, the audiovisual archive explained that the roots of the new collection are subject to the line of Belgian Martin Margiela. The circular fashion scene has reached the French brand. Galliano explains that ‘Recicla‘ incorporates original garments and others, mostly reconstructions of vintage second life clothes. There are too many clothes in the world! said the British Hispanic.
The company’s offer includes oversized coats and capes with details by Galliano. Among the accessories the house presents wide brimmed hats and silk scarves. We also saw the label’s collaboration with Reebok Instapump Fury. It may be possible that on some occasion we will see some of the garments we discarded from our wardrobe on Margiela‘s catwalk.
