Saint Laurent, the luxury fashion company owned by French conglomerate Kering, has decided to cancel its participation in Paris Fashion Week this year.
“Conscious of the current circumstance and its waves of radical change,
Saint Laurent has decided to take control of its pace and reshape its schedule.”, said Anthony Vacarrello, the company’s creative director at Instagram.
“Smaller formats will be made and aligned with the end client,” explained Francesca Bellettini, the company’s CEO. “We believe it is appropriate to disconnect from any pre-established schedule and have total control over when and how we present our message,” added Bellettini.
This decision comes shortly after the board of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode cancelled the Paris men’s fashion week, scheduled for June 23-28.
In addition, the coronavirus also forced the association to cancel the haute couture parades, which were to take place between 5 and 9 July in the French capital.
We recently reflected on the upcoming changes in fashion.
