L.E.V. Festival is an avant-garde audiovisual experiment that combines audiovisual shows, performances, artistic installations and electronic music.
It is not just another electronic music event. The LEV proposal is complex and, luckily, more difficult to digest. It has an audiovisual artistic base, without pretensions to create a massive dance space as it happens in music festivals. The event unites several international artists whose works are based on the creation of new avant-garde currents that play combining light, image, frequency and sound.
The Visual Electronics Laboratory creates a sound landscape for the fervent consumers of contemporary audiovisual art. It is a virtual universe that builds a whole visual and auditory experience through an extraordinary narrative and format. This year the festival includes several world premières. Synspecies, by Elías Merinoand Tadej Droljc (a symbiosis of architecture and algorithmic sounds); ScanAudienceby Schnitt and Gianluca Sibaldi (an interactive performance that scan the public) or the hypnotic techno of Bliss Signalare some of the many presentations that will debut at the festival and share line-up with a long list of interesting artists, such as Elizabeth Walling, Monolith, Gazelle Twinor Radioactive Man.
LEV Festival has its annual appointment in Gijón (Asturias) for thirteen years. Its new edition for this 2019 will take place from May 2 to 5, in Laboral City of Culture and other spaces in the city. This year, in addition, the event has expanded its programme and there will be an edition at the Matadero in Madrid from October 17 to 20. Tickets for the Gijón edition are already on sale on the festival’s official website.
