Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana established their latest collection in the jungle, where animal print was the protagonist. However, the collection was eclipsed by JLo’s tropical print on Versace and Franceso Risso’s palm forest on Marni.
It is quite common to associate the leopard print with Dolce & Gabbana but in the next season the animal print will be more present than ever. We could see it in his version of “Sicilian Jungle” – that’s the name of the collection, where even the catwalk was leopard.
“We like to do something glamorous, and we love happiness, summer. It’s our philosophy”
Over 124 looks, the designers touched on every element of the chosen theme, from raffia dresses painted with parrots and giraffes to colorful crochet pieces adorned with toucans and exotic heliconias.
Among the accessories, as varied as the flora of a jungle, the dwarf bags, in the purest Jacquemus style, and the floral silk handkerchiefs attracted attention.
With Sofia Vergara, Monica Bellucci and Lady Kitty Spencer among the guests in the front row, Dolce & Gabbana took advantage of their most seductive spirit to present a series of black dresses with transparencies and two-piece sets.
But if there’s one thing the Italian brand stands out for, it’s the extraordinary craftsmanship it exhibits. Apparently, the raffia pieces from the men’s June collection were so successful among clients that the designers have decided to repeat the same strategy, this time in the women’s collection.
The jungle has been a recurring theme in Milan Fashion Week, as demonstrated by D&G, Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace, who also used this motif in their shows. So, given what we’ve seen, next spring we’ll get tired of seeing fruit, floral and, of course, animal prints.
