Fashion month is over, and the hangover is being considerable. This season everything is back to normal and for the first time after the pandemic we have been able to fully enjoy the fantasy and spectacle that brands have offered us.
The clothes have not been the only attraction; celebrity cameos, star appearances and the occasional controversy have also captured all the attention.
Here is our list of the 5 most viral moments of this fashion month.
LINDA EVANGELISTA RETURNS TO THE RUNWAY WITH FENDI
Linda Evangelista closed the show that Fendi organized in New York to celebrate 25 years of the iconic Baguette. Wearing a majestic turquoise cape, the supermodel, icon of the 90s, returned to the catwalks after having a huge problem by a cosmetic operation. Who better than her for this celebration? We missed her.
CIAO, KIM
If there’s one thing that grabbed all the headlines at Milan Fashion Week, it’s the collaboration between Kim K and Dolce & Gabbana. Under the slogan “Ciao, Kim,” the brand welcomed the eldest of the Kardashian clan to co-design the SS23 collection. The pieces were chosen by the celebrity, from the archives of the house from the years 1987 to 2007. A review that has been loved and hated in equal parts. Will Kim’s power be enough to revive Dolce & Gabbana?
COPERNI AND THE SPRAY-ON DRESS
Coperni took the cake with the spray-on dress. Bella Hadid appeared at the end of the fashion show, practically naked, ready for a dress to be made on her body, live, using a special spray. This material, called Spray-On, has been devised by the scientist Manel Torres, director of Fabrican Ltd. It is the materialization of how innovation and technology can make anything possible, and all right under our noses.
Sébastian Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, have perfectly understood that fashion shows have to be more than just a presentation of a collection. Society demands more and more experiences, and this was undoubtedly the most memorable moment of the fashion week.
CHER CLOSES BALMAIN SHOW
Cher makes a surprise appearance at the Balmain fashion show. Just when we thought the show was coming to an end, suddenly Cher arrives on the runway to close the show with Olivier Rousteing. The American legend walked the runway with the designer in a skin-tight latex jumpsuit, worthy of her much talked-about looks of yesteryear.
KANYE WEST MAKES A MESS AGAIN
At his Yeezy show during Paris Fashion Week, Ye presented the “White Lives Matter” T-shirt and, obviously, controversy was served.
Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, the renowned fashion editor, was the first to criticize West’s choice. On her own words, ” the message didn’t land and was deeply offensive, violent and dangerous.” Kanye responded to Gabriella through vexatious posts on Instagram. And his attitude took the battle to something bigger than an argument between the rapper and the fashion editor. In the crossfire of statements on Instagram, many celebrities like Gigi Hadid or Mowalola have shown their opinion before such irresponsible act propitiated by West. Is it another wake-up call from the rapper?
Of course, there have been plenty of things to jump out of your chair about this fashion month, whether you were on the runway or watching it all from the comfort of your couch at home. We’re wrapping up another season, and all we have to do is wait for January. May it come soon!
