Riccardo Tisci reimagines Burberry archives

Burberry holds its first post-pandemic guest fashion show in London. Find out all the details about the show here.

We’ve been looking forward to it. Thank you Riccardo for bringing Burberry back to the world of shows. We’ve been craving the iconic British brand’s shows and the impressive sets they usually put on. This time, it’s all the more reason to be one of the coolest, but we’ll tell you more about that later. Read on.

Tisci is a great designer and that’s a fact, but with this latest autumn/winter 22 proposal that he presented today in London, the firm’s headquarters, in an intimate fashion show with guests such as Jacob Elordi, Adam Driver, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni, he has once again demonstrated what we were saying a moment ago, that he is a great designer and that he knows how to turn the stale and boring into something cool and current. And if we add to this the fact that the garments and accessories are worn by the top models of the moment such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk (the Russian’s first appearance since the conflict between her country of origin and Ukraine broke out), Maria Carla Boscono and Mona Tougaard, the result is already unbeatable.

All these celebrities were summoned at 1pm to Westminster’s Central Hall, which for those who don’t know is the British capital’s Conference Centre, to discover Burberry’s new products first hand. The venue was unbeatable but the concept of the show was even more so, as the team wanted to bring back the old catwalk models from a couple of decades ago and decided to set up several tables in the chosen room and parade the models on the tables with opera music playing in the background. Sublime, wasn’t it?

There was no mistake, seemingly obvious, all we heard was applause and more applause for Riccardo’s reimagining of the Burberry archives. The quilted jackets that our grandparents wore when we were kids became dresses, the trench coats took different directions, each one more interesting (watch out for the dresses with this shape), the horses that the brand had as logo were rescued and became protagonists again, this time in rhinestones and hand embroidery, as we saw in the grey bomber jacket and in the pink one combined with a matching jumper and a pleated skirt in the same colour. There were also the usual checks, in different colours and versions, as well as tailoring. All the looks were combined with high mesh boots in black or nude.

And as they say, the best comes last, right? Well, that’s precisely what happened at the show, 10 night looks were in charge of closing the show, in style, and leaving the name of its creative director Riccardo Tisci well positioned. What were our favourites? The two strapless dresses with voluminous skirts, one in yellow and one in black, and the two-piece rhinestone jacket and skirt ensemble that combined elegant style with athleisure.

What a pleasure to see Burberry shine like this!
