The iconic collaboration returns, reinterpreting classic Fred Perry pieces with the sensibility of Raf Simons’ eponymous line. In addition, graphic artist Tom Tossey, a regular collaborator of the Belgian designer, has also contributed to the launch, printing his artwork on the pieces.
It’s the first collaboration Fred Perry is launching this 2022, a collection that features the graphic designs of Raf Simons’ regular collaborator Tom Tosseyn to imprint the spirit that has inspired this drop season after season: the energy and freedom of youth.
The designer continues his obsession with the ephemerality of youth and its associated subcultures, the paraphernalia and romance of collecting things from real life, little personal treasures that reflect one’s interests – often meaningless to others – things that could easily be discarded.
His style and approach to tailoring can be seen through the different pieces that make up the collection: The oversized shirts and tailored in a cotton fabric with inverted stripes; the knitwear; the sleeveless V-neck jumper in yellow/black two-sided knit.
T-shirts, shirts, hoodies and outerwear pieces are adorned with badges and patches and signed with a shiny silver metal laurel wreath, a symbol of the collaboration, a metal pin and laurel wreath charms and Raf Simons embroidery.
Other standout pieces from the Fred Perry x Raf Simons collaboration are the outwear. The belted trench coat is designed in a loose-fitting, oversized design, while the fishtail parka is made with a cotton outer fabric and a detachable fleece lining.
