J Balvin colors his Jordan I

After watching how his career has become an absolute cultural hurricane and the undeniable referent of the Latin community, J Balvin is no longer a reggaeton phenomenon and has evolved into a change agent for the Hispanic music industry, being the first Latino to perform in Coachella’s main stage and gaining the admiration of the international music scene.

It’s no longer a surprise that José Álvaro Osorio Balvin aka J. Balvin is the first Latino to take over Jordan brand. The “first latino to” tag is becoming an extension of his own name anytime we read news about the Colombian artist. Couldn’t be different this time.

His impact transcends music and his own genre, making it into fashion with his presence in every show by Kim Jones, Virgil Abloh or Casablanca, among others. This path the author of “Vibras” and “Colores” has followed lead him to collaborate with artists like Murakami in his merch line and, now, with no other than Nike.

His passion for kicks is pretty obvious, being explicit in his stories and outfits about his likes, where Nike and Jordan take the biggest attention from Balvin (@jbalvin), wearing not only the most hyped drops but samples and customs museum worthy.

His influence is more than proven when the Oregon boys knock your door and ask you to put your soul into the most relevant silhouette in recent history. His version of the AJ1s is no disappointment, regardless of personal likes, it reflects faithfully Balvin’s identity and his colorist and full of life aesthetic. We see a bright gradient of rainbow colors all over the shoe, clear reference to his characteristic hair dyes. Kick is built in canvas with multiple irregularities around the swoosh, exposing the tongue’s foam and placing J.Balvin’s logo on the heel.

Recently we’ve seen pics in his IG account with Michael Jordan himself and stories where friends&family rocked one of the most important editions of His Airness’ silhouette. In the moments previous to the Super Bowl, where he shared the stage with JLo, he invaded social media with his last and most valuable treasure, wearing them in the most watched show in the world.

This collab goes further than the Jordan I itself and is another milestone for  La Rosalía’s friend as the most influential Latino out there.
